For the most part I eat really healthy, however, sometimes I'll have days where I eat a ridiculous amount of sweets and I can't seem to stop myself. I'm not someone who is naturally skinny. I think my running would really improve if I lost weight. Like I said for the most part I eat well and exercise but how can I avoid binges/ cheat days without becoming super pairanoid of sweets.

I'd start by not buying them.

Figure out what might be causing you you to binge in the first place:
-not eating enough during the day
-boredom
-emotional reasons/stress
These are just some (although common) reasons. see what might be different on a particular day you binge and what on that day may have contributed. So yes, not buying junk will definitely help, but addressing the underlying cause will be most beneficial.
Sugar is an addictive drug. Treat it like one. Don't start eating it, and you won't want to continue eating it. Only times I eat anything sweet, if at all, are 1) at breakfast first thing in the morning, or 2) right before a run.
Don't keep them in the house. That's a big help.
Discipline. Have wholesome meals, for example dinner should have sufficient protein (~4 oz of meat) with whole grains and some healthy fat.
Snack on vegetables.
Fruits in moderation for sugar cravings.
It's ok to eat some sugar, but you really just have to eat well and wholesome food for awhile to realize that junk food is gross.
I know fruits and vegetables get a bad rap but they're WAY better than junk food. Just make sure you're eating other food with them.
Keep yourself busy--fulfill yourself with things other than food.

I would recommend that is the way to be healthy, IS a LOT of fruits and vegetables...60% carbs for a good runner, and most of that should be vegetables and fruit...only 10% needs to be protein and 30% fat.
Its clearly a psychological reason for binging. The OP knows what is healthy, but has cravings for unhealthy food and binges when she does eat them...
I think it boils down to convincing yourself that a healthier version of your junk food is indulgent...and that might help satisfy you...but avoid loosing control. Something like yogurt and strawberries is your indulgence for the day, and have something like that everyday, in moderation, thus you don't feel like you are living a life of deprivation of sweets or yummy food, and when you let go you can't stop...
Also you can log your food, and thus there is accountability for everything you eat, and when you over eat force yourself to log that too.. I really like the App my Fitness Pal for logging diet and exercise.
i think it is pretty important to keep healthful foods on hand. small bags and containers of rice, berries, carrots, and other vegetables etc. can take some time to prepare but they will last all week. setting some time aside to prep these over the weekend is a great way to provide yourself with more nutritious and equally convenient snacks.
it takes practice though. make sure you do your dishes so that you have a place to put all that food ;)

Yeah this is actually a thing. People think they have too much sugar. You could look it up but it's kind of a waste of time because it's wrong.

I keep a bag of home-roasted nuts (pine nuts, cashews, etc) on hand at all times to stave off my junk food urges. There are few things that eclipse the flavor of freshly roasted and salted nuts.

Just go to your local Walmart. Look at all the fatties and the food they are shoveling into their carts (yes carts plural.) If this doesn't work you are going to have to try something stronger, an Amish Buffet would be the best but if this isn't available you can try a Golden Corral. Good luck and remember this is for your own good.

Yeah, I think the whole Paleo/high protein thing has turned many against carbs in general, and sometimes fruits and vegetables. I was looking at the book The Four-Hour Body, and the author acted like you should strictly limit yourself from eating basically ANY fruits.
