Washing Shoes

I wash mine all the time - sometimes in the washing machine (with cold water); sometimes in the laundry sink with a brush and liquid dishwashing soap. I've never had a pair come apart yet. Don't put them in the dryer, though, because heat does make running shoes fall apart.

what's the point of washing shoes? do whatever you want but are looks that important when you're running?

Washing Machine...just be sure to tie the laces together before hand or they will get very tangled.

I've been washing shoes for years. First take a scrub brush to them in the sink with liquid dish soap and then just throw them in the washing machine. Allow them to air dry. I've never had a problem with it.

I just washed my Zoom Elites the other day for the first time and ran in them on Sunday, they were fine.

its not always about looks, sometimes its just about getting rid of the smell...or atleast minimizing it.

I prefer my shoes have that lived-in look. Sparkling white or new-looking shoes are the mark of a novice, in my humble opinion.

I like mine to have a slight shade of gray, which takes at least two months to achieve.

smell makes sense, especially for those with others around to smell it.

I must respect your opinion, but mine is that spanking new white kicks are something to preserve. When my shoes got dirty, I wanted to bring back that loving feeling.

I never clean my trainers, the occasional creek and stream crossings and rainy day runs are all they need. I'm only wearing them for 750 miles so it's not like I'm holding on to them long. I do clean my spikes sometimes because I don't always screw spikes into them so cleaning them becomes important. They're not ruined. All you have to do is fill up a sink with luke-warm water and put a small amount of clorox2 in the water (any laundry detergent will probably work, but my spikes are bright colored... it's just what i use) and most of the dirt should float out. The remaining dirt in the spike holes (if any) can be removed with a q-tip dipped in laundry detergent. Then just rinse them well and air dry them and they should be good to go. I use my old trainers to work in and to go fishing, stuff like that.
