I'd say you might win. Unless South Lakes had a ~4:51 girl during Webb's tenure.

but was there a rail on the track? and it wasn't FAT, so it doesn't count.

Broxville is close using Mary Cain's sophomore time (4:39) and a boy who ran 4:11 last year. If she hadn't left....

Linn-Mar in Iowa had two great milers this year. Josh Evans ran around 4:04 for a full mile and Stephanie Jenks ran sub 4:30 1500, not sure her best time.

Both were a full mile

So it can be any time while coaching? Those are two different years?

Both run on 6/14 at the adidas Grand Prix. Time adds up to 4:47.06. Not sure if they have the same coach or not but if they do that nips the OP.

Has anyone even considered Linn-Mar?

I know two HSers well who combine for 8.11 for their 1500s - earlier this year. Probably about similar. to 8.47 for mile. Don't coach either though. One at beginning of Senior year (boy, 3.46, 17), one at start of Sophomore year (girl, 4.25, 15).

that is tough to beat, this is the closest I could think of, besides the Jenks Evans example

Interesting feedback. Thank you. Debbie's time was set in the 1972 USSR-USA meet in Richmond, VA when she was a 16 year old junior at Neff High in La Mirada, CA. You can see the race on YouTube (Debbie Heald vs. the Russians). This was the high school indoor record for 40 years until Mary Cain broke it. Debbie didn't run for her high school team because there was none, as Title IX hadn't come into effect. She ran for my club team, the La Mirada Meteors. I was her 4th and 5th grade teacher. We started the club when she was a 6th grader. That summer I was hired as teacher/coach at neighboring Bellflower High where I inherited Bob O'Brien who had coached himself to 4:13.7 mile as a junior. The 4.9 second improvement his senior year was pretty much expected. The biggest part I played was convincing him that three workouts a day were unnecessary. Pretty sure he would have run faster had he not come down with mono the last two weeks of the season. He had a four year ride to UCLA where a knee injury hampered his development. He graduated with honors. Debbie ran very well for Nike in her twenties before being struck down with schizophrenia. Runners World did a story on her a couple years ago (Nov. 2012 I believe). As an aside, Staples in CT had Henry Wynne and Hannah DeBalsi at the same time.

Hannah has two more years to up her record.

Who has the best mile and two mile combined time, you can flip genders,boy in mile, girl in two...or boy in two, girl in mile?

If they didn't exchange a baton, it doesn't matter.
