How about a 10k with a chute and toll gate at the end of each lap. The runner who arrives first drops a token and is let through. The last place runner is stuck waiting until the front runners get through.

How about a hammer throw for height, or a pole vault for distance. Or a 1500 followed up a high jump and then a 10K racewalk, followed by the discus?
Or maybe just a flat 800m.
