But Monaco is the place where you can run really fast. So I don't blame him that his focus is on that meet and not Lausanne. For him to do well in Monaco (and I mean AR well) he had to miss the USATF Champs (in my opinion).

Why would racing at USATF have an effect on a race several weeks later? Why can so many other runners run multiple weekends in a row and do fine?

To break his PR, Centro doesn't need 51.0 halfway. 51.high is ok.

Yes. My bad. This meet is usually held in London (as you probably know).

I doubt Centro is in this JUST to sharpen up for the 1500...if so he could probably find a different race than a DL 800 (although maybe not, as I assume he is already in Europe). He should look to be competitive since this is a weak 800m by international standards. Expect him to get out in the back though, as he has said before he doesn't have the speed to get out in a good position against true 800 guys.

i woudn't call it dragged to a fast 200

he looks to have gone thru in 25+ which is sh!t

he just made a move from there to get some respectability & galloping in lane 2 to bell

If he was just racing for the sake of it like a lot of runners on the circuit yes he could do it. But since there is no real season highlight for US athletes this year I would think his plan is to run fast (run a PR or even an American Record if everything goes perfect). Monaco is the place to do it as conditions are usually great. To perform well at the one race you want to run well (Monaco) you have to race, train and rest wisely. And yes therefore a USATF champs with rounds 3 weeks prior is not good preparation.

So why was Jenny Simpson able to run and win USATF and then go overseas and nearly break the American Record?

And how was Centro himself able to run his current PR about 3 weeks after the rounds of the Olympics?

There's is no way that running USATF would have a negative race on the upcoming Monaco race.

This is pretty much on point. The big problem with the 1500 or 800 at USA's for someone in Centro's position, with his current goals in mind, is the question of rounds; as much as you resist it, running fast-finishing 1500s days apart is always going to take more out of you than you want.

Maybe she would have broken the American Record in Paris if she hadn't run USATF ;)

So why is Centro using this 800 as a "tune up" when other 1500 meter runners go out there and rip some legit 800 meter times? Sounds like a preemptive excuse for the inevitable bad performance.

no real 400 or 800 or 3k to go on

iirc, he shouda gone well below 3'30 that day based on extra distance run & uneven pace
