2:11:57 PR and 3rd American in Boston, 2:10:52 PR and 2nd overall ahead of Kawauchi in Gold Coast. Great run. The USA's next top marathoner?

Weren't there a bunch of sub 2:09 guys in the race? He beat almost all of them?!
Yeah, like eight, including three 2:06 guys. He beat all of them. The winner was doing his first marathon and ran 2:09:14.
Nice run, more than a minute off his PR. He was actually on mid 2:08 pace through 30k. There's only 1 2:06 guy that finished (the 2 others DNF'ed). Fujiwara had cramps and Kawauchi fell over a traffic cone!

great race from Eggleston. 60th all time American time, according to tfn, and if my count is right, roughly 30th all time American. And this is a guy who's been pretty much under the radar.

This guy is consistently underestimated because he has a funny name!!!
I get the feeling that everyone posting on this thread up until me is the same person.
More than likely it is Jeffrey Eggleston's coach or best friend from school.

Your analytical/thinking/feeling powers are very weak.

Looking at what Americans have run since the Olympics in London (not counting Trafeh), Jeffrey looks right up there with the best right now.

2:10:52 - Jeffrey Eggleston, Gold Coast 2014
2:10:57 - Ryan Vail, London 2014

Congratulations to Eggleston. Seems like a guy who has worked hard for it.

Wow, now I know I was right.
Stop before you embarrass Jeff even further.

Yeah Jeff, you should be so embarrassed for running a 2:10 marathon and have people actually talk about you. You are only the 29th best american of all time, two spots behind Brian Sell. If you cannot beat Brian Sell, then you do not deserve to be talked about.

Assuming you're not the OP, I'm not the OP and I'm not you, there are now at least 3 posters in this thread. Does that make you happy?
Great run by Eggleston. This article about him and others was part of what motivated me to move to Flagstaff for altitude training 2-years ago:
http://azdailysun.com/sports/running/no-easy-road-for-flagstaff-runners/article_32fa34d0-13c5-5bcd-881e-7b17d1459c1d.htmlWent horribly since I didn't respond well to altitude, but his is still a motivating story.
The 2016 trials are shaping up to be really interesting with a bunch of guys in the 2:10-2:13 range going against the known studs like Meb, Hall, Ritz and Abdi who are all question marks with age/injury.
Took up strength training

Whats with the Brian Sell hate? Has that guy even run in 5 years?
Eggleston wised up and is based in Boulder now
congrats jeff- inspirational run for all of us chasing elusive PRs.
Check out his thoughts on this race:

Incredible analysis of the race itself in there. Pretty cool to hear him calling out (even though he said he wasn't) the Kenyan pacer for f'ing up the pre-planned pace. Also cool to hear him take the humble approach when asked about his 2:10. I think we all agree. 2:10 is 2:10 but it ISN'T 2:07 or 2:08. Americans cannot be happy with their fastest runner at 2:10.
Looking forward to Eggleston's fall marathon. I would like to see him in New York, but chances are he goes to Europe. He prefers to travel, hehe.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
