What's your best time thus far? I've got a similar plans (albeit with a longer time to work and only setting my sights at sub 13 but I suck).

One thing, though, how long were your rests? 10x40yds seems like a lot

I've never run an official 100 meter race, but last week I got 12.8ish for my last 100m stride after a 4-mile run.

The rests for the 10x40 yards were basically a walk back to the starting line.

(in case you time them) could you post your times for the reps?

I used to try workouts like that when I was in distance shape and they did help my speed I like to think, but that's probably too short rest for a true sprint workout. You want something closer to 2-3 minutes I think

Nobody apart from the most Sprintgeezer'd out whack jobs think a 12 second 100m is fast for a distance runner—pretty much anyone who can run much faster than about 2:00 for 800m can run that fast. That's a pretty crappy sprint training workout too.

Didn't time the repeats today, but I will for the rest of the workouts.

I didn't claim that a 12.8 is fast. Like I mentioned in the other thread, I've run a 1:58 800 and 4:12 1500 (as well as a 52.xx 400 split), and that 12.8 was an unofficial time after my 4 mile workout.

There is a trick to improving your start, which is to do 20 or 30 meter reps from a prone position, and from a pushup position.

I've seen this before I think. You need someone to give you a signal I think. It's a way to work your reaction time. Is that what you mean?

Sprint geezer was right and knows a lot more about sprints than you and most people here

Most distance runners would probably go 2 seconds slower than they think they could run if they did an actual 100 meter race from blocks

Basically you start from the ground

Ryan Hall does a few at the end of this vid but you might be able to find some actual sprint videos

Best of luck to you. I mean that, and I'd be impressed with a sub-12. But...I remember the naysayer thread to which you refer here, and I'm pretty sure that in that thread you claimed you could run 11.4 off just four weeks of sprint-specific work. That's pretty different from 11.99; if you'd claimed the latter rather than the former, I (and probably many others) wouldn't have given you such a hard time.

Anyway, get it!
