The guy can't even finish a net downhill 10K in unusually forgiving weather.
How can a dude who once ran 2:06:17 and 59:43 on fair courses be this much of a head case? If he ever runs under 2:10:00 again, it'll have to be with the hand of God pushing him.
So how far did Ryan Hall make it today?

Don't think this is a troll attempt. OP makes a valid point. Hall drops out of races these days more than he finishes them. With all of the resources he has as a big name professional runner, you'd think he would be able to get his act together. Today was blamed on the same hamstring from London, for instance. From 2 years ago! Clearly his rehab/strengthening program/whatever is inadequate. And he's still self-coached, right? I love watching the guy run, it's just disappointing seeing him drop out of races so frequently. -

Correct. That anyone could see my post as anything but a legitimate question boggles the minds of those of us who actually have minds.

Thank you. That's all I asked. -
I think he made it far enough to realize he was going to place out of the money.

Quite difficult indeed to be a Ryan Hall fan nowadays. What kind of message does that send to other runners?
It's ok to drop out of half of your races?
It's okay to toe the line injured?
Time to retire, Hall. -

I agree with everything except the retire part- He can travel and race as much and for as long as he wants. But, I have to admit, I've pretty much given up on him. -
You dweebs have all been saying the same thing about his wife for years & she's still kick'in butt so go make yourselves scarce would ya?
-
yeah because she has a good coach - magness
-
Exactly, and she isn't pulling the bonehead moves. She carries herself well.
Ryan positions himself more and more like the typical California frat boy who quits when the going gets tough. He better snap out of it, and the first thing I'd do is cement a coach down and pick Meb's brain for a complete attitude overhaul -

Everytime Hall toes the line and drops out he ruins his legacy, loses fans, etc.
When he dropped out at the Olympics at 50 MINUTES into the marathon(!!!!!!!!). I stopped being a fan forever.
He should retire. -

Yeah, he should of pulled a Benabbad and walked it in for god's sakes! Grow a pair Ryan. And start punching people too. -
I think what might have happened at Peachtree is that Hall got a couple of miles into the race, knew he had everything set up perfectly so that an American would win, and decided there was no further need for his presence.

Ha!

OP
Who would you rather be, the guy who ran 2:06 or you? -

You're asking two questions in one, and they don't mesh.
Would I rather have a 2:06 PR than my own? Sure.
Would I rather be Ryan Hall than me? Not a chance. I bet he's a nice guy, but I wouldn't want to be stumbling through life thinking that some celestial ex-jock with a whistle 'round his neck was my chief guiding force in running and life, just as I doubt he'd want to go through life as a materialist who at least finishes his races. -
I was running beside him and he said for me to back off so an American will win it. I'm an Apache and said I am Native American. He said "No I mean a real American!"

Can't believe someone like Leo Manzano had trouble getting sponsors, while Hall has so many DNS/DNFs and still has rich sponsors. He's been riding the coattails of his pedigree for far too long now.
Can he not even enter a race without realizing he has an injury, or was he expecting some god to step in and fix it midrace?
