Completely agree. One of the few finals she has run this year against bonafide sub 2 competition.

Fantastic in windy conditions. Worth 1:58 for sure if ideal.
TFN doesn't keep lists for post-champs NCAA, but clearly Laura is one of the best ever (although Groenendaal keeps the UO record from Europe in '85 at 1:58.33)
For a minute I thought she had blown right by 1:59 entirely, but it only confirms what we have been seeing from her all season.

She was a Nike girl from high school. Do you guys realize the type of talent that is Laura Roesler? I called her sub-2:00 earlier this year (thought she'd run it at NCAA Indoors).
The girl has 50-sec. 400m speed, can run 1:55 when it's all said and done, and could medal on an American 4 x 400m in the future.
Nasty.
Probably didnt go sub2 at NCAA'S cause she had to run a leg of the 4x4, but with 50 second 400m speed she can def do a 1:55, she just needs some mileage to strengthen her aerobic capacity and she'll be able to run those back to back 57.5's, for a 50 second 400m runner who can run a decent 1500m it shouldnt be that hard
Laura Roesler first 150 meters was terrible or this race would be been much closer! Watch the replay, Laura gets knocked around, stepped on, pushed, and then has to slow down speed up just to get back into position...I realize some of it was her fault and that's part of racing....and some other runners were being pushed and stepped on to....but guess what? No body fell!

This is an interesting comment. The Oregon coaches certainly were ideal for her development from a high school elite to a Div 1 collegiate and national elite. Now for the next step, who might be a good choice for her next step to Interational competition. Bob Williams out of Portland and Mark Rowland out of Eugene seem like potential matches.

I very much agree. I was going to post something similar, but had not got around to it. She just needs experience with such high caliber races. I was a decent 800 runner once upon a time and have had some success coaching the event. I believe that if the field is as good or better than you that you have no more than 3 and many times less "moves" in a race. Roesler used her moves jumping outside, making a quick move after the stumble in front of her rather than a smooth gradual return, etc. When she needed a "move" at the end, they had all been used. Wilson had all her moves at her disposal. It is possible that Roesler had to use them due to the circumstances, but she will improve with experience as she learns not to panic and save her moves.

And Roesler ran this race after a long collegiate campaign. If she avoids injuries she should be a major player for us by 2016. Of course having the right coach matters, big time. By the way she does not have 50 second 400 speed. Maybe mid 51s on a relay.
Yes, it was a long season.
I read prior to today's race that she was lamenting on how tired she was from the long season and getting additionally tired with each day. I was expecting her to run poorly. I was pleasantly surprised and even more optimistic for her future when she popped the low 1:59.
I did not quote her 400 speed, but I did read that she had a few sub 51 splits during the college season.

Why do you think she has 50 second 400m speed? Her high school PR was 53.25, her college PR is 54.63. At both the NCAA West Regionals and NCAA Champs only the anchor leg ran 50 seconds - and that wasn't Roesler.
So did Mary Cain. Wejo how many dollars did Mary Cain earn from her race?
