I was actually wondering the same. I thought she was savvy by showing Molly a bit of daylight on the inside and shutting the door. But after clearly moving inside on the the final straightaway -- THEN weaving outside into Lane 2 -- clearly impeding.
I was surprised she didn't just put her head down and steam home.
Drifting a little is ok...what she did was definitely impeding. Huddle was gracious by saying she didn't get touched, but that was really due to her going out so wide. She almost had to go to lane 3! Cutting off the inside was ok. Drifting so far into lane 2 was poor. I had little respect for Shannon before, so this didn't change that.
Huddle was forced into lane 3

So wrong. That is called smart tactical racing. There was nothing blatant or interfering about it. Like Rowbury said, there was no contact, so how bad of moves could it have been. You people are just looking for a reason to call NOP hypocrites, but there's no reason here.
I was so confused when I first read the LR recap saying Shannon was "weaving" because I didn't see that at all when I watched the race live.. and I don't see it watching again now. Too many runners give up the inside to allow passing on the rail, and that's dumb on them. Shannon gave Molly plenty of room.. Molly was still a step or two behind when Shannon moved inside, and she was a step behind when Shannon moved outside.. there was no "cutting off" of anyone.

yes, you do...
trust me, i'm no NOP booster. Shannon's a smart racer. Molly even acknowledged as much in an interview.

You're confusing two different things. Giving room to a runner behind you is fine if you're changing your line to pass someone ahead of you.
But if you're in the straight with no one ahead of you and you change your line to prevent the runner behind you from passing, it's a potential DQ, even if you have a step.
If Rowbury had held on for the win, Huddle would have had valid grounds for a protest, particularly because Rowbury was blatant in changing her line more than once.
It's definitely something Al Sal would've gotten a DQ for. After all he got Bumbi DQd for nothing and berrarted Lomong for absolutely no freaking reason.
My point, in starting this thread, was to point out hypocrisy, and I have succeeded. Shannon is a smart savvy racer, and Gabe was vilified for bumping the golden girl. Carry On.
Who won the race? HUDDLE. Enough with the DQ nonsense. If Rowbury had won I could understand the talk of a DQ for her, but Huddle dealt with it and in the end won the race.

...and you would have been 100% in support of nop if huddle was pinballing at the end and rowbury won. rowbury wins, huddle gets a dq because al sal goes ballistic, again (al sal meltdown v2).
Let's leave the DQ calls to the officials.
Was a flag EVER raised by an official in this race? No
Does Molly feel a DQ was called for? No
Like Huddle, Rowbury ran an amazing race last night. She matched the 5k American record holder stride for stride and got nipped at the line. They both showed exceptional closing speed and gave us all a great show last night.
I think they are both headed for some big PRs this summer

I didn't even watch the race, but from the recap and from what some posters are saying, there was no contact from Rowbury with Huddle.
Grunewald actually made contact with Hasay, and it didn't help that the announcers (one of whom was, I believe, a training partner of hers) called her an "out of control toy car", and openly stated that she basically ran into 2 runners.
That being said, since apparently Huddle called her a good racer in her interview, it more or less overrules whatever the stupid internet posters who can't go 15 minutes without finding some runner to complain about. Think about it for a moment. The runner who was supposedly illegally impeded doesn't even think she was illegally impeded and instead applauds the effort, yet people like you think she doesn't know what she's talking about? That's just idiotic.

Wow, what an amazing concept. Yes, let's stop allowing coaches to file protests. AlSal would be devastated.

the stupid poster is you. you have a agenda. it can ONLY have happened the way you predetermined it could have happened. geez, get a life dude, and realize your myopic view of events is not something you can force on others.
al sal would have absolutely filed a protest to dq huddle if the roles were switched. that is a fact.
It's not the leading runner's responsibility to get out of the way of the trailing runner. If the trailing runner wants to pass it's their responsibility to get around the leader, regardless of which lane they have to use. Inside, outside, it's on the trailer.
If you want to see impeding look and see what the Russian did to Ajee Wilson, I believe last year. That wasn't called either.
Some guy opened up with an AK47 at Macdonald's this morning, but didn't kill anyone. Basically he just missed everyone, and later said he was just trying to eat a cheeseburger.
The police tossed a flag, but decided "no harm, no foul" and joined him for a beer.
Afterwards, one of the waitresses said she got a bonus and was happy with the outcome. Anyone who disagrees is an idiot!

Christ almighty, calm down. Huddle said she wasn't impeded. She called Shannon a smart racer. She then said if the roles were reversed, she would've done the same thing herself.

Oh, then we can expect to see NOP runners use this new tactic again, and again.
