I must've missed the story on this - why isn't Matt running outdoor nationals?

Not sure what the deal is as other NOP are there, heck Rupp is declared in 3 events. Centro is not alone in skipping it though, after a cursory glance it looks like Ben true isn't listed in the 5k or 10k either.
Why is anyone even bothering? it doesn't lead anywhere (no teams to make). Personally it makes little sense for all but the 2nd tier athletes, who can't get to Europe, to race this meet. The only reason would be that it is required in their shoe contracts - it is not as if carding money (as with Canada) is tied to performance at the National meet. Frankly I just don't see the purpose of the meet this year. Who cares if you are a National champion for a meet that leads to nowhere. The world Junior trials is the only domestic meet with meaning (qualifying for worlds) this summer, apart from World Junior's itself (Eugene).
centro's chacne must be flaring up. took too high a dosage

Yeah, I know, what's the point in the Olympics? I mean, World Champ. Who cares?
There are contract bonuses for being a US Champ. A contract bonus plus prize money can be a pretty good pay day. Although it's probably not much incentive for Rupp & Centro for as much as they make.

Okay, so the reasoning here is that since Centro isn't at USAs, he must be "juiced".
Does this mean Ben True is also "juiced" since another poster mentioned he doesn't appear on the start lists?
Conversely, does this mean that Rupp is 100% clean, because he IS racing?
Seriously, it was more idiotic than amusing the first time the joke came around with the 400+ page thread that failed to provide even the slightest piece of evidence that Centro tested positive. We get that you don't like seeing anybody associated with Nike win, but since they're the ones winning most of the medals and taking most of the records, you're probably going to have to get over it.
Cue the phrases "Centro sauce", "oregon juice", "doping nopers", "elfie rupp", "sleazy sal", "clown college", "cupcake major", etc etc etc

Sponsors, for one, would probably like their athletes to show up at the US national championship.
I still can't get over a track season with no WC's
Let's tell the San Antonio Spurs that next year ends after Game 82. No playoffs. Jordan would've loved that. And Indoor doesn't count.

The Continental Cup (formerly World Cup) is this year.
Lausanne DL 1500, maybe? Sounded like Rupp was going to skip USAs for Paris, but seems like that idea was scrapped.
Who went to US Nationals in the last off season in 2010? Solinsky and Tegenkamp didn't run it. Rupp won the 10000M in a scintillating 28:59. Lagat won the 5000M.
Really, what is the motivation? You are not qualifying for any major championship. If you are already entered in Diamond League meets I can see how Nationals is more just an annoyance.
I think Rupp and Lagat ran it just because at the end of the day they are Americans, its US Nationals, therefore they should run it. Some money in it for them probably doesn't hurt either.

This was already covered: contract incentives.
Layin' low.
Microdosin'.
Nationals will be better without him. Glad to see True is out too.

One of the cool things about the USATF championship in off years is that 3rd isn't seen as as big a victory. Top athletes (if entered) will be trying to win rather than just qualify.
I do wish there was a WC every year though.
With Rupp entered in the 15, 5, and 10, is he going to just run the first round of the 15, or is this a legit triple attempt?

I'd guess he doubles with one of the events being the 10k since that will be a walk in the park.
I would like to see Rupp attempt the 15/5 double since everyone knows he can win the 10000m whenever he wants to and there is no WC.

Schedule is:
June 26
6:30pm 1500 prelim
9:00pm 10,000 final
June 27
9:25pm 5,000 final
June 28
2:14pm 1500 final
http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2014/USATF-Outdoor-Championships/Schedule.aspxIs he going to pull something like the 2008 trials and showboat while winning the 1500 prelim and then skip the final?
