What do most of the best high school runners in the nation do for summer mileage. My teammate that went 14:52 (5K.) did 700 miles? What would I expect out of Cerake, Haney, De La Rosa, etc...?

usually 80-90 mpw, but it really all depends
there are HS elites that run 60 mpw and some that run 100
according to an article I read once, they interviewed all the athletes at Footlocker Cross Country Nationals a few years ago. The average for girls was 40-50(or was it 50-60?) mpw, with a high amount of them doing swimming and a couple doing biking as an extra aerobic stimulus without pounding on legs.
For boys it was anywhere from 60-80 mpw with little to no cross training, the few that cross trained lifted weights.
That help?

I'm sure De La Rosa easily does more than 1000 summer miles. The other two I don't know.
Depends how long your summer is. 1000 is a lot easier with a 12 week summer. It only makes sense to talk about miles per week. Most high school boys build up to 60-80 miles a week. Some run less, a few run more.
