Pretty interesting with all the great High Jumpers coming out of D1 lately that D2 has a guy (Jeron Robinson - A&M Kingsville) that comes up and snags the higher championship mark. Doubt anyone will really care since its mostly D1 mumbo jumbo here, but thought it was interesting!
The women in D2 had 2 girls over 1.91 at NCAAs. Both from Western State (Szabo and Jackson). D1 champ was 1.89m. D2 has some studs in HJ.
Women's pole vault was higher in D2 as well. 4.50 to 4.40 in D1.
Division 2 is full of talented athletes that for what ever reason chose to compete at a different level. Sometimes for eligibility reasons and in a lot of cases they were just good kids that have made huge strides while in college. Jud Logan at Ashland annually produces throwers that would be great at any level. However you can't ever compare marks at two different meets and make any assumptions. The conditions make such a difference especially in field events.
Maybe DI was a tactical competition?
Yes, that "tactical" pole vault. I bet the high jump went out slow.
