She's probably only half serious. She mentions Rio, her chances of making it on the US team in two years are almost 0%. Her chances of making it for South Africa much better.

Plus she would have to get an A standard in the first place, and if she remains w/ South Africa be the first B standard in her country and I don't see her getting 4:04.50, and 15:18 is a stretch, but if she's in the right race (Payton Jordan) it would be close...

No. If she ran for South Africa she would have to run the A standard three times within the qualifying period to be eligible, and even then wouldn't be guaranteed selection. That's how their federation works and partly why she is upset with them.
