LOL.
If Farah goes out at 12:37 pace (60.x laps) for more than 2k, the only thing worth betting on will be whether his last lap will be over or under 70.
Farah will never sniff a WR. Ever.

I live 45 min from Portland. If Farah legitimately had a chance to challenge it I'd go watch it. But he doesn't so I'm not going to go through the hassle of getting a runner friend to give me a ride (don't have my license yet)
not a suck,
Mo will eventually break a world record , mark my word
not austin 18,
Be part of history making , hitch a ride to Portland and take a selfie with the legend , young man
Why do you have to be so negative?
Tony, you are an idiot. Just a Mo fanboy who knows nothing about athletics other than Mo. Your posts are stupid and would be more appreciated if left inside your own head.

The truth is considered negative?

I'll watch it next year when I can drive. I just really don't want to bother my friends about it, would make me look needy.
Also, Mo won't break the world record in his rust buster after only 2 months of training coming off a marathon debut at a meet whose meet record is 13:32(according to a lestrun post earlier this week). Just saying.
I expect Farah to run about 13:30 for the win plus or minus a few seconds.
what track is it on?
who are the pacers?
he wouldn't be announcing a world record attempt without good reason. and while I don't think he will run faster than 12:37.35, he could go sub 12:50 with the right conditions (track/pacers/weather/etc.). though maybe not this early in the season.
His PB is 12:53.11... from 3 years ago
Maybe ventolin can chime in about which WR farah has the best chance of attacking based on his past performances
Out of curiosity, what meet is he running, and has there actually been any indication from Mo or the NOP of a WR attempt?

He has on numerous occasions the 3000m is his sweet spot. Looks like he will double up in the Commonwealth Games

not austin,
take the greyhound to Portland and be on the right side of the history , young lad
I gotta wish Mr Farah good luck
Same with Ritz and Galen. Pretty fishy, huh? Ritz can get within 15 seconds of the WR in the 1500m, but can't get within 4 minutes of the world record in the marathon!
This, my friends, was sarcasm.

Oddly the closest MO has gotten to a world record was in the 1500....
Exceptionally odd, indeed. That 1500m was a bit gray.

If he makes history, then you'll be right, but I really strongly doubt that it will happen.

You're smart! That was sarcasm,
Learn basic math and figure out if Mo's 1500 pr is proportionally closer to the WR than his 5k or 10k. The answer is yes. Ritz is closer to the marathon than the 5K proportionally.
So we have confirmation that he'll be running the 5000, bu there's been no indication of pace, let alone a world record attempt.
I say Farah should go for Komen's 2 mile mark. I don't think its so bulletproof as some believe, and I think Mo has what it takes. He's got the right combination of endurance and speed, and his 400m finishing ability goes without saying.
In ideal conditions, with two pacesetters that could cover him for 4 and 6 laps, I bet he could do it. Go at even splits, perhaps alternating 60s and 62s, and then haul ass the last quarter. It's doable
