When you log your mileage, how many decimal points do you include?

I don't log my mileage.

You know she posts on here occasionally, right?

I go to the half mile. But if I finish a workout at 5.25 Miles, I run an extra quarter on my c/d to get 5.5 Miles.

I usually just round to the closest whole mile. By the end of the week I find that it usually all balances out.

If I map my run or run on the treadmill, I go to the hundredths. If I run trails, I guess to the nearest quarter mile.

Runs on a known course I put down the half mile.

Runs not on a known course I estimate to the mile and guess down if I think I am between whole numbers.

I dont use decimals, but of my run gets to > .25 (such as 6.25 miles) I'll compulsively keep going to until the next mile clicks off. If less than .25, I just roll it back to the last even mile.

I also keep going until garmin or treadmill says X.02 miles so that I don't run too little due to inaccuracy of measurement. This is pretty nuts I know, but hey it's my personality!

I use the MyExerciseLog app and enter my time and distance with one decimal point so it can calculate my pace fairly accurately.

My mileages are guesses for the most part, but many of my runs are estimated to two digits. Usually in .05 increments, though.

If running is 90% mental and I think I'm running farther than I actually am, it follows that the higher mileage gives me a mental advantage.

I used to have a girlfriend who disagreed...she would white out my daily mileage and round it down a mile.

Even though we ran all of our runs together, I ran farther.

2 but I round it up to the nearest 10th.

Must be a hobby jogger than.

So for those who record their mileage to the tenth (or hundreth), what do you do if after work, it's raining, and you have to run to your car in the parking lot? Do you record that extra 83 meters....? Or during lunch you had to jog across the street because of traffic? Or you ran 15 feet to catch the football from your son?

I round to the nearest .25. 5, 5.25, 5.5, 5.75 etc.

Just truncate. Problem solved.

I use whole numbers and a plus and minus system. The pluses and minuses cancel out.

4 is 4. 4.25 is 4+. 4.5 is also 4+. 4.75 is 5-. 5 is 5.

So if I run 4+ and then 4- it equals 8 total.

I also don't know how long my runs are and or what my pace usually is. Also, I usually forget to update my running log until the end of the week so I forget what I ran.

Also for some stupid reason my running log app counts mileage from Sunday to Saturday, so I have to backdate every run by a day.

It's not a good system.

I use a GPS watch for measured sessions off the track - tempo runs, longer fartlek efforts, etc. For regular mileage, I prefer badger miles.

Well first of all, your 2nd and 3rd examples are way less than a tenth of a mile, so they'd round down to 0 anyway. But the answer to your question is no, of course I wouldn't log those. Even if I logged my mileage to the nearest whole mile I wouldn't log the half mile jog I did in the morning to catch my train. Very short, isolated runs are pretty much irrelevent from a training standpoint
