Title IX and Race Walkers unite: Walker successfully sues USATF for not offering prize money in women's 50k race walk

First, Title IX only applies to educational institutions. And I think we have established that no one at USATF is educated.

Second, I love that Greer said it took an athlete to point out that prize money was not offered. I hope she did not pay her lawyer much of that $7K.

Third, why should it surprise you that the women did not have a 50K. It was not that long ago that women did not run farther than 800m.

Meh. The woman in question is, unfortunately, an infamous gold digger and attention whore. If you google her, she was sued several years ago for driving high school girls to a dartmouth meet and falling asleep at the wheel and paralyzing one of them. In that time she divorced a rich guy, spent time on a millionare matchmaker site, and eventually married another guy old enough to be her father, who presumably also has money. The bottom line is she probably paid 5 times as much as she earned in lawyer's fees...but got attention and doesn't worry about money.
