1:44 first race back, not bad. Yea he got beat by guys he would easily handle before. Running low 1:40's is a little different then a 18 min tempo run for 3 miles or 6 x 200 in 25 seconds.
A rust buster if there ever was one. 1:43 next race for the win!
Major Rust Buster for David Rudisha ! Not bad really

He took it and lead until about 90m to go but didn't get a big enough lead at 400 and instead of just kicking it in and jizzing on everypeeps, he only responded to mo's all out sprint after the 600 meter mark. The result: 7th place, 1:44.87

When did Rudisha run low 1:40s followed by an 18 minute three mile tempo? -
Never.
Reread the post. -
He looked heavier than usual. Maybe he has bulked up for the Juantorena approach.

Seriously? I thought he looked noticeably skinnier. -
Well I saw him shove Bram Som out of his way (rare bad rabbiting from Som) and it made him look bigger.

I think the whole race was good for Rudisha until the final 80 meter obviously! He is back baby -

I'm thinking he'll be a lot better for the run and another week's good training. Reading between the lines it seems he hasn't had a whole lot of hard training as yet. I think the guy is a talent. Anyone know who's running NY? Rudisha is better not to have to face Aman or Amos over the next weeks. When he does again it will be a different game! -

Really? You think he is a talent? Jaysus! -
Like many of the other big names, his drugs finally wore off, and he hasn't benefited from the next cycle...yet.
Souleiman, OTOH, is fueled.
And don't give me any garbage about an off-year, a building year, an injury, whatever. I don't want to hear it. -

The WR holder?
I'm not sure I agree with this statement. -
I think he meant metaphorically.

I think the pressure of the comeback is finally off and he'll be free to run without expectations. Perhaps a 1:43 for top 3 in New York should be his next target. I'm a little worried about reports of niggling pain still.
Also, a fully fit Rudisha wasn't immune to tactical disasters like when he was eliminated at the WC semi-finals when he was favourite in 2009.
