As of today I am done with track for the year. I missed qualifying for the 3k at states by 3 seconds earlier in the season and haven't come close since. I have good natural speed and can probably run a decent 400 (54ish) if I train a bit over the next couple weeks. The slowest on the team runs around 57-58 so that's all I need to be able to beat. Should I try to convince my coach to put me on the team and train my speed for the 400 until the season ends or should I just give up on track and start my summer training for cross country a bit early? Running the 4x4 would be fun and I could get my top-end speed up a bit which could be helpful. On the other hand, a few extra weeks in my already short summer season will give me a good head start in building my mileage up.
