We got a new Assistant Coach and she has run pretty fast for 10k and was part of a respected training group before coming to coach us. 3 months ago when she arrived she was a little over weight and had a hard time running with us on recovery runs. Since then she has lost a noticeable amount of weight and now pushes the pace on every run.
She told me that if I want to be good that I need to starve myself for the summer when I am home and not racing. That all elite women starve themselves and that it is a necessary part of being good.
I want to know if this is true?
