Lawi wins it the hard way, leading from the gun. Looks like Ches was in perfect position to sit and kick but couldn't do so. possibly because of the pace. looks like lawis tactic of "go out as hard as possible and try to hang on" actually worked this time.

I'll asnwer my own question. Just saw he ran the 800. Was the last time qualifier into the final. Barely made it but then got 3rd in the final.

I guess on day 2 it's more of a strength race than day 1.

Cheserek's improvement this season has been incredible. Anyone remember how much of an afterthought he was in all those sub-4 attempts last year? I know he took some time off to focus on academics or whatever, but still.

Given that Fleet has a 1500m PR of 3:38 and an 800m PR of 1:46 he was clearly put in the right race to get the win. Could not come through for whatever reason.

He certainly wasn't going to challenge Lawi or Cheserek in the form he showed today.

Does Fleet get an automatic in to NCAA's because he was last year's champion? Is that why he was running the 800?

no he was running the 800m to spread out points.

he's run 3:40 this year more than fast enough to qualify for regionals.

don't worry, grandpa and fleet will get their dosages adjusted

People don't qualify for nats through conference.

Big picture for Oregon is Nationals. Hence why when the 5000m races rolled around and Oregon already had both Women's and Men's PAC-12 championships locked up, many runners DNS in the 5000m
