I've been doing 800m training the last 6 weeks. I'd put in good mileage (for me) over the winter of 70-80 miles per week. I managed a 2.09 PB 3 weeks ago at my first 800m race of the year. It felt comfortable (64/65 split), so better times to come.
There's a couple of 5k races I want to do next month, but I'll be sticking with 800m training, throwing in the odd 4 mile tempo run every other week, and keeping those 12 mile runs up on a Sunday. I ran 16.26 at the same 5k race last year. I'm just trying something different with the training this year. Approaching the races with more speed in my legs from the 800m races.
Anyone have any experience of this?
