Really stinks.... Had a good field
Really stinks.... Had a good field
I saw that -- bummer! I was looking forward to seeing David Torrance take it out hard and beat his old course record. It seems extreme to cancel it outright, especially for the elites who can run in the rain for 3 minutes and 52 seconds without any problems. :-(

Weather
UPDATE (4:30 p.m.): As severe weather is predicted to continue and has impaired our ability to set up for the race safely, Twin Cities In Motion is CANCELLING tonight’s Medtronic TC 1 Mile race.
Minneapolis has been and continues to be under a tornado watch and forecasts continue to predict thunderstorms and lightning throughout the evening. Twin Cities In Motion’s primary concern is for the safety of the volunteers setting up for the event, participants, spectators and the community at large. We appreciate your cooperation.
Event registrants will receive an email with more information. Thank you for your support of Twin Cities In Motion events, and we hope that you will join us again in 2015.
Rain isn't the issue. Lightning, hail, tornadoes are more the concern. #weatherreadynation
lame. I am at ground zero and it's fine. There was some rain and wind earlier on but it ended well before the race was supposed to have started.
The tornado thing is a "watch", not even a warning. I know what they will say, "out of an abundance of caution".
lame
it's better to have cancelled it than for things to have gone very poorly.
don't be selfish because you wanted to watch 3 guys race. the RD doesnt care about the elite race, he/she wants the thousands of other runners to be safe
"very poorly"?
It has been dry ever since it was supposed to have started.
It JUST started to spit a little bit, right now (7:39)
"very poorly" = people getting damp
you are why the usa sucks
3 flashes of lightning and some thunder since my last post.
i don't see anybody around in tinfoil suits

Calm down.
pouring now
some of my best runs have come in huge rain
as a runner, i wanted to go, who cares, conditions are never perfect
btw this is only ONE cloud. ok a pretty big one but it's moving fast and blue sky is visible to the west.
also btw i still went for a run during the time the race was supposed to go, i did a 7k along the river
I'm here in town to run the race. At 3:30 the weather radar showed a big storm moving fast with clear skies behind it. At 4pm it pored for 30 minutes. I was in contact with them many times by phone and e-mail and they didn't bother to inform me until 6pm about cancelling. I of course drove from my hotel at the Mall of America and of course got stuck in traffic only to have A few volunteers tell me it's cancelled when I got to the city.
I just Ran a great workout on the river trail by Mall of America with great weather. That is an amazing trail. I didn't drive 5 hours though to run a nice trail run.
Why not run the race around the block a few times? They could run the dam thing inside the mall. They had no plans made for bad weather. I think it was lazy people that didn't want to set up in the rain. I want my money refunded
It poured for about 10 minutes starting at 7:40, and there were a few flashes of lightning in the distance. But they gave us $5 towards a future TC race, so it's all good.
