WTF? Pain going up/down stairs is one of the major signs of PFPS.
http://www.hopkinsortho.org/patellofemoralpain.html"Patients describe pain with stair climbing and especially going down the stairs."
Stop trying to diagnose the injury, and who cares what he says! It doesn't "sound" like PFPS or Runner's Knee, cause if you idiots knew anything about a knee, it's similar to the nerves in your teeth. Just because you're showing pain in the upper molars, doesn't mean there's an issue with your upper molars, it could be your lower canines. Knees doen't always show pain where the injury is or in the same manner. If she is actually concerned, she needs to go to a specialist. But if you're unwilling to rest(which is going to be the first thing the doc recommends) then I feel no sympathy. Call a doctor, make an appointment in a week. Rest for 6 days. Run the day before seeing the doctor. If there's still pain, you now can say you've rested 6 days (the correct amount of time for inflammation to reduce) and the pain is still there. If the pain is gone, you can make the judgement call on whether or not to cancel the appointment.
