Last year I ran 1:13:00 in HM, and in later that year a 1:13:50 in a windy race. I was running ca. 120km a week with 1 long run of ca. 35 km and one tempo of 13km a week.
Over winter I ran ca. 135km a week with the same routine. Two weeks out from my half marathon I ran a 15km 'test' on the local track in 50:02. So I was quite confident in a new PR, especially since the race was pancake flat with few curves. Was aiming for 1:12:45.
I bombed. I went out in 17:20, 34:34, and at 14km I was gasping for air, hit 15 in 52:35 and then a bunch of walking breaks and finished in 1:16xx. I can't figure it out. Does this kind of flop happen to yall?
Should I stay the course with training and write this off, or should I seriously reevaluate what I am doing?
