I'm considering getting an altitude tent. But i'm concerned as to how many hours I would have to spend in the tent to actually get any benefits from it. I've seen some research that says you need only 6 to 8 hours and other articles that says 12 to 16. I don't think i'd be able to spend over 12 hours in a tent. At max maybe 10 hours with a night of sleep and a nap.
Is it worth getting one?

There are many threads about them in the past you can search for. Many say the benefits if any were small (and possibly mental), and some say they needed MORE sleep to get the recovery they needed - which begs the question, was it the altitude tent, or could you have gotten the same benefit just by sleeping more and thus handling more training.

actually, yes. the pros DO use them. I use one, I know Centro does, Ritz does, as well as Galen.
I have had one for years. I used to go train at altitude for 2-3 weeks every Summer before I got it and knew I was a good responder to the stimulus. I cycle about 3 weeks in and 6 weeks out with it. Out of the tent I need about 8-1/2 hrs sleep to feel good with my training. When I'm in the tent that goes up to about 9-1/2 hrs. That seems to be plenty for me to get a training response.

a lot don't
the tent is cover for EPO use
there's a dispensation for dodgy blood values on the ABP if you have been at altitude in the previous 15 days

It isn't worth it unless you're exposed to the hypoxic environment for at least 16 hours per day.
