OK Californication sucks(and apparently the BBT sucks too)but even these shows are STILL far better written than almost ANY movie nowadays. As Bukowski said "bad writing is like bad woman, there is not much you can do about it." These shows and others like "Elementary" and "The Good Wife" and "Boardwalk Empire" have a beginning, middle and an end and have a SCRIPT. Most movies are just a big pile of special effects that mean NOTHING! You are FAR better off sitting at home with a remote and watching 2 or 3 shows that makes sense for "free" then blowing $20 on meaningless over priced junk. People have even called this the "Golden Age of Television" and I agree.
I agree with you about movies. I am absolutely astonished that people think it is worth their time and $ to go out and see 99.9% of the movies in theaters, that they consider this entertainment and sometimes even art (!). All of the superhero movies from the last decade??? You couldn't pay me to go out and see 1 of them (and I am sure there were a couple okay ones).
Sure, every once in awhile there is something worth seeing (but I still don't go out and do so. I may stream one or 2 or catch something on cable). But these are so incredibly few and far between that it boggles the mind almost considering the volume of movies put out each year.
