Anyone happen to know what the 5K record is for a little person? Can midgets even run/train? I've never seen one at a local race. Hmmm...

Yeah I guess he had that going for him.

Dwarfism comes with skeletal and muscular issues so I doubt a midget could train.

Interesting. That's too bad, although I guess it explains why you never see or hear about people with dwarfism out running. Sorry, just couldn't stop thinking about this all afternoon.
maybe I was wrong about little people afterall.
I coach a little person on a Paralympic development program.
In sanctioned competition dwarfs are limited to 200m and below. Their IPC classification designation is 40 and 41. Currently there are no IPC records for athletes in these classifications. The World Dwarf Games is also contested at distances of 60m, 100m and 200m. The quickest for men's 100m is 14.02 and 17.70 for the women. I have never seen a class 40/41 athlete attempt a race of 400m or greater.
The need for a rapid turnover to even maintain pace while walking alongside an able body fatigues them easily. Fatigue compounds while training and additional recovery is necessary. There are also muscular-skeletal abnormalities that makes training difficult.
However, dwarfs are explosive and many have a vertical leap greater than their height. They make great throwers because of that explosiveness.
I am sure there has been a dwarf to walk/jog a local 5K but would guess that it could not be accomplished under 45:00.
Hope this helps.
Great info, thanks guys! Pretty cool video too, who knew...
I know OP is just trying to be a jerk, but actually these guys are very cool-
You'll see in the story that Juli Erickson has run a 5k in 21:21, which would be a respectable time even without the issues caused by dwarfism.

na, Bekele at 5-2 ran 12:37. There are photos of Bekele racing Craig Mottram and the height difference is crazy.
