You don't run such high mileage if you're not healthy. And regards his track/XC background, a 2:05:30 debut seems doable.

...at high altitude. That's 20mpw more than Mo Farah. Then again, Mo adds another 50 or so on top of that on the Alter G and under water.
It's time for Kenny to separate the men from the boys like he used to.
has he been dope tested at all in ethiopia?
Isn't it fairly obvious he used to dope? And now has stopped since there has been better drug testing in the last 5 years?

When people run slower in the 1ok today than 10 years ago it´s because of better drug testing. When they run faster in the marathon today we get to hear a whole different set of explanations.
Mo ran his mileage for London in Iten.
Then he flew to N.Y for the half. Then he recovered from the half, and probably cut mileage and ran marathon specific
speed workouts.
Then he tapered.

But this thread is about Bekele... we don't care what Mo did unless you are contrasting and comparing the two which you obviously aren't doing by only mentioning Mo.

I think he went back to Iten after the NYC Half. See his twitter.

Really, Al's not watching the finishing touches? That's
stupid.
Whether he doped or not, is fairly obvious that he's slower because he was injured for over a year and probably didn't have great medical treatment or cross training available.

why's that then?

from what I've seen on Facebook it looks like al is in kenya with mo, or at least was a few days ago.

Marathon specific speed workouts? Oh my. I was on the track in Iten with him today and he was clocking 28s 200s. Now unless he really is going to break 2, that workout is far from marathon specific. Hell, he's been doing track sessions with Makhloufi he's not telling AlSal about. I can't see him being a genuine threat to the experienced marathoners.

Nuh uh?
Looking forward to it.

So why is it people are running faster than ever in the marathon? Do they not test that distance?
