Show me a sub 10
Sara collapses in exhaustion. Bethan tries to help her up.
Would have loved to have seen the entire race.
What were the splits?
I'm not sure I've ever seen such a good XC runner with such poor track performance. 10:07 should be 5K split for her, as it certainly would for Cain and Efraimson.
Might break 10 this season, but still...

10:07 is on pace for about 15:45...none of those girls can run that in XC
I completely agree! ^ Sarah is a phenomenal athlete and one of the greatest, if not the greatest, xc runner of all time so it baffles me how she is so sub-par in track. She went through the mile at Mt. Sac which is an incredibly hilly course in 4:58 with 1.92 miles of hills remaining. To my knowledge she has never had a sub 5 split in a 3200m race on the track.
Cain could. Moser ran 15:11 for 5k. Cain has beaten Moser in everything from 800 to 3k. She ran the 5k as a workout and Alberto instructed her to run 15:45. She could run at least what Moser could run if not faster.

15:45 is far away from 15:11. No guarantee that Cain could run 15:11 that day. You don't know how hard of a workout that was supposed to be.

He didn't say they could do it in xc. I'm sure he meant track.
Yeah, on track.

Is it just me or is Sara Baxter getting worse and worse each season. Now she's tying a 3200m with a no-name?
Since when does a 10:07 3200m runner qualify as a no-name?
When the best are running 20 seconds faster. Welcome to 2014.

Female HS athletes getting worse isn't that uncommon.

What? Sarah Baxter's progression
3200
this year she just ran 10:07.52 prior to April to put this in comparison
2013 - 10:06.74 SB (10:26.45 prior to April)
2012 - 10:08.11 SB (10:39.28 prior to April)
2011 - 10:13.00 SB (10:37.44 prior to April)
She is not getting worse, it's just that everyone else is getting better! 10:07 is the best time in the US right now; it's early people.
California high school fans know Bethan Knights. Bethan was the D3 State Champ in cross country, won the D3 State race by 43 seconds!
Baxter's 10:07 is only a second off her PR, so why does anybody think she's getting worse? Maybe other runners are getting better.
Bethan's 10:07 would have been 3rd best in the nation last outdoor season. Give her some credit instead of calling her a no-name!
Does anyone know the splits?
Good post. Knights ran a great race and her performance deserves more recognition.
