No, Jamaica is an absolutely horrible place. Lots of crime- especially robberies of tourists. Your son is an idiot if he goes running there alone day or night.

I ran through Kingston in the evening with my Jamaican teammate.

Then he picked up the pace. Said it was a bad part of town.

In case this wasn't obvious, this is not my mom posting (although it may be someone who knows me since they know my tendency for night runs).

Anyway, I read on trip adviser that Kingston was like a lot of other major cities, there are safe and bad parts of town. I went for a walk yesterday and saw women walking alone down the street so I think I'd be fine running there during the day. Maybe I'll stick to the treadmill for my night runs.

Now i know how parents must feel. You tell your kids one thing and the do the exact opposite.

Steve has violated his own advice. Not only did he go running at night - he did it at 1 am.

True story. I was in Beijing in 2008 before the Olympics. My brothers college teammate invited me to a Puma party/press event. After it was over, it was just me, Matt and Bolt.

Matt's like, "Usain, he runs the letsrun.com website. you ever been there?"

Then Bolt's was very nice and apologized with something like, "No man. I'm sorry I only do facebook and **. I don't really do running websites"
