As for why you haven't heard of her, distance running is a very top heavy sport. Much of the focus is on # 1 and 2.

But you've never heard of her? Probably because she was Ivy League. Had a 2:03.41 pb in college.

I'm a big fan of Kate's. It was quite exciting to watch her past season, and it takes guts to make a move like the one she's conducting. What's more, if there's any year to make such a move, it's this one, with no WC's on the immediate horizon.

But I have to say, I am also wary of this decision. I recognize that there's more to life than running, but Gags was clearly working for her, and I am a big believer of the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mantra when it comes to training. Still, I think there's every reason to hope for more seasons like Kate's 2013 one. Fingers crossed, then, for a successful transition and a WC berth in 2015.

all true about taking a risk, but Bend, OR may just be the perfect USA town/city for its environment, culture, long term. Never heard a single negative thing said about Bend.

If I could, I'd be looking at Bend without hesitation.

Believe she will be living in the Oiselle House with former UW Huskies Mel Lawrence and Christine Babcock.

She seems pretty great, but really what about taking of four seconds in two years was not to like?

If her mom is a multimillionaire, why the f*ck did she even go to college? Why the f*ck does she even have a job? She can just sit back and enjoy a life of leisure.

I look through their roster and see almost all of them have improved since they got there, once they complete a full season. Culley winning OT Trials, Higginson making US team, Rutt has run great, etc. Look a little closer at all the runners, not just a couple.
