So, I got into a lame argument with a co-worker the other day over the greatest Sci-fi film of all-time. We both agreed that 2001 would probably be #1 and I said that I couldn't think of another film (other than 2001) better than Blade Runner. It's always been a favorite, but I hadn't seen it for many years. He was like "really!?". Said it was dated and the special effects were lame and the music sucked.
So, went home and over the weekend I rented the "Final Cut" version in HD and wow! I'm almost tempted to put it at #1. Some of the effects are more believable than most modern day films. I only found it dated from the perspective that the film makers were trying to look almost 40 years into the future. No one's getting that right.
