I'm entering my junior year of high school and am being switched from an open 4 guy to an open 8 guy. My events and times last year were: open 4 (54.29), 4x8 (2:05 split with 400 splits of .58 and 1:07), and the 4x4 (.53-flat split).
My school, for the first time since I've been here, has a mid-distance coach. Before we were just 4/8 runners who practiced with milers/2 milers or the sprinters so we had non of our own workouts.
By district/regional time this year I want to be running a sub-2:00 open 8. What workouts/running strategies should I try out to help me with this?
