SYDNEY, Australia -- The U.S. was well-represented at the 2014 Sydney Track Classic at Sydney Olympic Park on Friday. Four American athletes turned in victories at the event, including 2014 World Champion in the women’s 4x4, Natasha Hastings (Round Rock, Texas), who opened the outdoor season with a win in the women’s 400 in 52.01.
2013 World Champion David Oliver (Orlando, Fla.) opened his outdoor season with a win in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing in 13.38.
2013 Jesse Owens Male Athlete of the Year LaShawn Merritt (Suffolk, Va.) bested the field in the men’s 200m, finishing in 20.42.
Duane Solomon (Los Angeles, Calif.), a finalist in the men’s 800m at the 2012 Olympics, won the event in Sydney, turning in a time of 1:45.95.
