Darker skin gives the illusion of more definition. He is very defined however.

There were two Lost Boys from Sudan on my high school track team (one was a sub 1:50 800m runner in high school off 15-20 miles a week). Both of them were RIPPED like Lopez, and didn't really workout at all.
He looks like a more jacked (middle distance) version of Meb.

Um … what is so special about his physique in that picture? If everyone here runs 100+ mile weeks and can run 2:30:00 or better like they claim, then they all look like that. I mean … I know that I do.

yes, he's always been like that. At NAU he had more bulk in his arms and shoulders. He looked more like a sprinter than distance runner. He actually ran the 4x4 at NAU several times at conference so he did have muscle like a sprinter. He actually looks leaner and has less muscle than his time at NAU.

We graduated the same year in New York State, and one of my first memories of Lomong, was before his race at the 2003 New York State Cross Country Championships, he and Dominic Luka, going up to the chin-up bar and cranking out the easiest, smoothest chin-ups I'd ever seen, just to win some free t-shirts from some Army recruiters, blowing everyone else I'd seen out of the water, then crushing the Class D field and winning the individual and team state titles.

there is a saying that goes something like, "you cant carve a pebble"if u dont have any muscle then low body fat percentage will not be enough. lifting 2 or 3 times per week though would be more than enough to build up enough to look like lopez. and not just core but large movements like squats/deads (extremely underrated core builders). and to everyone that is saying the dark skin makes him look more jacked, u r completely correct. thats why u look more jacked when u get tan
