I am a sophomore in high school, and I would like to break two minutes in the 800m. My school record is 1:59.70. Last year as a freshman I ran a 2:23 with minimal training. This year over the summer I trained for cross country and got in good shape. I took a week and a half break and then started training for track. My personal bests are:
100m- 13.16
200m- 27.98
300m - 45.00
400m- 1:02 (indoor track)
500m- 1:22 ( indoor)
600m - 1:50 (indoor)
My training program is currently this:
M- warm up 1 mile, hills 5-6 3 min break, 1 mile cool down
T- warm up 1 mile, 600 by 3 8 min break 800m pace after 250 by 3 4 min rest, 1 mile cool down
W- warm up 1 mile, tempo run 20 min, I mile cool down
Th- warm up 1 mile, 1000 by 4 5 min rest, 1 mile cool down
F- off
Sa- warm up 1 mile, 600-500-400-300-200 with same recovery as time ran, 1 mile cool down
Su- warm up 1 mile, 400 by 5-6 with 2 min break 800m pace, cools down 1 mile
I am a 800m/ 1500m type of runner. Earlier in the year I worked on my 100 200 and my 300 for speed.
I usually do core everyday.
So how could I get a sub 2:00 in the 800m
