Just so everyone is aware, there is a protest currently going on in the SEC championships. There was contact by Texas A+M in the 4x400 meters with about 75 meters to go (about the same amount of contact as GG, but only once) and they ruled no harm no foul. The contact had no bearing on the outcome of the race as Florida (the team A+M contacted) still went on to win and A+M was second. Florida is protesting even though they won the race to try to get A+M disqualified and thus win the team competition.
Those of you that say AlSal shouldn't have challenged and that most coaches wouldn't have in his shoes, this is a good example to say that yes, most coaches would have challenged in his place. 90%+ of coaches would have challenged in an identical situation and you would have to be an awful coach not to.
Protest twice? Maybe not, but you have to protest at least once to try to help your athlete.
