What a waste of time this whole thing was.
-
Interesting how the proven cheats have so many NO votes.
-
What's most amazing to me about the poll, and the one number that actually means anything, is how FEW people actually voted. That speaks volumes.
-
Letsrun is a pathetic joke.

On the other hand, the people who did take the time to vote are exceedingly cynical and/or trolling.
The very best percentage went to Molly Huddle, and she still had more than 8% of the voters thinking that she is dirty! Seriously? That says much more about the LetsRun populace than it does about her. -

P.S... Having over 5100 people voting is a relatively healthy number. How many were you expecting?
And by the way, 14% of the voters think that Joan Benoit was dirty? That is absolutely ridiculous. -

Ajee Wilson 12.7
Mary Cain 16.9 -
You think this is a proud moment for Letsrun. It's very very much the opposite.

Cain is coached by Sleazy Sal who also coached doper Slaney -
25% of voters think Mary Decker Slaney was clean,

Couldn't agree more, their attempts to justify these polls is just sad. -

She was exonerated by USATF. -
5100 is small beans, especially considering the number of people probably trolling and voting multiple times. That's like all the undergrads in a medium sized college all deciding to vote. I have to think there are way more T&F fans than say the entire undergrad population of Chapman University.

I do believe that all three are most likely somehow dirty. I'm posting under my real name. Although first let me say that I consider thyroid medication and blood transfusions (I don't know the current status) and a number of other questionable practices that may be legal with a doctor's prescription to be dirty...
Let me ask you this: do you think there has ever been a high school girl who doped? Do you think there has ever been a *top* high school girl who decided to start doping? I do. And I don't believe that Mary Cain, for instance, has blown them out of the water while clean. I think that drugs really can affect performance.
And why should molly huddle be immune from speculation, because she's too cute and too pretty to be a doper? she set the american record in the 5k, which means again that she must have somehow run faster than a bunch of dopers while clean? I just don't think that's likely.
I may be wrong, certainly, and I've never met these young women who do appear to be very nice people, so please don't take this as an indictment against their personalities. It is simply my belief that most of these people are somehow dirty. I don't think this is an overly cynical argument, just a rational one. -

Nothing whatsoever is ridiculous about thinking these people might be (or were) doping. I've known masters runners at the 16:00-plus 5k level who were/are on growth hormone, college runners - not at the national level, mind you, but the conference scorer level - who were on the juice, even high schoolers who admitted to use of cheap PEDs. How about those two Cat 3 cyclists who were popped for EPO a couple of years ago? They were nowhere near the pro level - just state-class amateurs presumably doing it for the fun of competition and personal improvement and without fame, money or endorsements to gain if they win. And we're somehow supposed to think professionals are cleaner as a whole?
Anyone - at any level or at any age or from any land - is capable of cheating. What's "ridiculous" is the notion that people can't possibly be putting drugs into their bodies (or being doped without their knowledge) until they're X years old or until they're making Y salary from their athletic exploits or unless they (or their associates) exhibit Z "sleaze factor."
Get this straight: Track and Field is dirty. Real dirty. And drugs aren't confined to the elite level, although the elite level is particularly dirty. -

right, and you can tell it is dirty because of the massive number of US distance runners who have tested positive!
Oh wait, no A list American distance runner has tested positive in decades. Hmmm. -
well, A decade anyway. that is still a long time.
-
By the way I don't mean to single out these three individuals, I just happen to think that most of the people at the top level of the sport are doping. I only mention them because they were cited at the top of the thread.

You're mistaken, it is remarkably cynical. Why do you even follow the sport if that's what you truly believe? I'm sorry, but life is far too short to look at things with such a negative attitude. I honestly feel sorry for you.
