What I don't understand is that now that Gabe has been DQd given the protest was already filed, does recanting the protest do anything? What about the "evidence". Sounds like withdrawing the protest doesn't really do anything since the decision to DQ Gabe is already made. It shouldn't matter at this point if Hassay withdraws the protest or not. USATF needs to reinstate based on new evidence.

This was a position that Hasay should not have been in. Regardless, she made a good call. Hasay keeping it classy.

Am a big Hasay fan but this sucks. Simply a case of backing down after the heat got too much for USATF, Salazar, Nike, et.al. Nothing even remotely classy about this sordid affair. NOTHING!

Yeah, there really is. Jordan's part was classy. If you can't see that you are a total jerk. She got tripped up by a "moose on rollerskates" and ended up 4th where she certainly would have been top 3. Then she has to go through all of this drama and undeserved hate from a growing mob mentality and she is able to speak with her coach and give up her spot. And she did it with class.

Never has such lawyer talk ever resulted in such a wave of human emotion!

Sad to see Jordan getting bullied into withdrawing. Hopefully this kind of behaviour doesn't become a trend in athletics.

I sincerely expected her to go to Poland. When Lauren Fleshman called for her on twitter to drop out, I was thinking absolutely no way will Salazar let her. No way. And then this.

Hasay, you're maturity and fortitude is commendable. I'm very happy that you represent our sport. Best of luck in the future, I'll be a Hasay fan for the rest of your career after how you handled this.

Do people actually believe she wrote that? She probably means the sentiment and all, but overwhelming praise should have been immediately withdrawing, not placing a ton of stress on many people by waiting so long. Especially when it was obvious it didn't effect the outcome. I would have given her a ton of credit if she overcame her power hungry coach and withdrew right away, not this, this is usatf and nike saving their asses.

This should never have been about Jordan Hasay. She trained, she ran, and the rest should be decided between coaches and governing bodies and not directly involve the athletes who have no control over the situation.

In my opinion, the show of support in the 1500 to call out one decision was a bullying disgrace and reminds me of the actions by a bunch of jealous sorority girls.
