What a baby Salazar is. I completely agree with filing a protest against that girl in the 3k who was running like a retard. But he gets this upset over someone setting a hard pace, simply b/c that might not the ideal race plan for Rupp? It's not as though the Schumacher athletes ran in a circle around him to impede his progress or something.

I don't get this at all. The announcer said the fast pace favored Rupp and I agree. He's the 10k guy. Hill would have had a better chance with a slow pace and all out kick.

Assuming this is true, it may have just been a comment that released the built up pressure. Bumby obviously did pace Hill and Lomong which is technically not legal. I don't think it really should have mattered because Galen should be able to beat them in any type of race but there may be a lot more animosity built up and a simple comment like: "Hey Jerry, way to try and use team tactics out there with a pacer" where Jerry fired back with something a little more sharp, and boom the pipes break.
I also don't get it because . . . Rupp made the team and none of Schumacher's guys did. So what's there for Salazar to be angry about?

This is very interesting after hearing the rumor about the wisco guys (now many of them shumacher crew) giving Rupp crap in college.
They need to sit down for a beer and get it out in the open. Being passive aggressive in the same small town is not healthy for any of them.

I posted this on another thread, but didn't the fast pace actually help Rupp? Seems like a modest pace would have given Hill or Lomong a better shot at outkicking Rupp.

That's perfectly legal if he is entered in the race.
Not only that, I would encourage it to move the pace long if someone is willing to do it.
Finding a willing participant in a championship race is usually the hard part.
I didn't see El G or his teammate DQed when he was paced to a 3:27 in the 1999 WC finals.
Or was Bumbi lapped and then paced them?
