Ouch
Ouch
his legs are too big.
Even until 1000 m I thought he was trolling all of us and he would come roaring back for the win.
Thanks for the memories.
Sad how three hours after his last race only three people have commented. But he did look about 40 years old.
Great career, Webby. It'll be a long time before another American runs 1:43/3:46/27:32.
Because this was like the 4th thread on it.

Once you've made a decision to move onto another other thing - it's hard to muster the motivation to keep doing the current thing. He ran this race for us - but I would guess his training has been anything but mile-specific. Probably already started his Triathlon training.
Webb is Done Baby. Signed. Sealed.
I only hope we don't keep hearing about his triathlon exploits.

Oh come on, you know we will. There will be at least 5 threads popping up whenever he does ANYTHING for a long, long time.
Man, I really thought he was going to pull out one last sub-4 just due to emotional release if nothing else. I feel like I tricked myself, sort of like how every time I watch Without Limits I think Pre is going to win the gold.
Last professional running race. He'll be crushing sub-4:00 miles at running club miles in a few years.
Thank god that mess is done
he looked very relaxed. seriously, he did

You really think so? Rupp probably won't beat his 800, but mile I think is gone this summer, and his 5 and 10k are world's ahead.
Rupp will never run 3:46. You gotta have 1:45 800 speed for that. It would severely damage the sport if he ever ran 3:46. A very bizarre chapter in our sport's history, to say the least. Especially if he did a workout afterwards.
Anyone have the splits for the race? I didn't get to see it...
Video?
Best of luck Alan in the Tri. Its been quite the rollercoaster this last decade+, but have great memories of being trackside on that epic Cardinal 10K with Ritz and Fam, Spring 2006..maybe 150 people in the stands. THAT was one of the great track battles that very few people saw in the age before internet broadcasts.
I agree, its going to be a long, long time until someone matches the PRs over that range.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
