That's about twice as slow as the world record. Yawn.
I'm more concerned with what sort of ailment has kept the classmates on bed rest.
make another thread when he runs 7:42 for the 3000m
Yeah, the least we could do is chip in on a scooter, bike, skateboard, basketball, frisbee or something for this bubble boy! Perhaps we could help get him enrolled in an elementary school that has recess and gym classes?
Too young to tell. I had a second grader run a 7:14 mile several years ago. In 7th grade, he ran 5:30ish.
He has no talent. there. Seriously stfu. Nobody cares what a little kid runs in elementary school, its means absolutely s*** nothing. It has absolutely no bearing on how well he will run in high school.
My 4th grader ran 6:52 last year on no training and was second fastest in his school.
He took my advice and ran an even pace mile when half the grade sprinted the first lap. Pretty funny to watch.
District wide the fastest 4th and 5th graders were around 6:25 to 6:30.
He told me he wants to train with me this year and break 6:00 for a mile.
i ran 6:42 in 3rd grade with no training
I ran 6:34 off no training in 6th grade. Now I'm a senior in high school. Guess what? I'm decent. under 4:30 in the mile. Guess what else? A kid who was running like 7:30 ran like 9:10 for us last year, and obviously dusted me. And another kid who ran 4:50 in 8th grade never went under 4:35.
In summary, nobody gives a sh*t.

Well, my daughter ran 6:45 for a full mile (not 1600) when she was 8 years old, again off no training at all. She's 14 now and ran a 5:25 mile last year off only soccer training. I daresay she has some talent, BUT - she hates running and will likely never take it up
So, I say to you - none of what they do at this age counts for anything other than fun and good health.
You have a slow friggin district.
I watched two 5th graders run 6:10 the other day just goofing around, also off no training. Your 7:42 kid would have finished 8th in a class of 22 at my kid's school.
If elementary includes K, that's pretty good, but keep in mind that the 5 year old world record is 6:33, down to 5:53 by age 7.
And, it's also worth noting that a 7 year old recently ran 5:11 for 1500, so that 5:53 is actually very weak in comparison.
I heard about a fetus running 4:30, so this is really no big deal.
Notice that he just says elementary school. The kid is probably an 11 year old 5th grader!
It's impossible to even speculate unless you can tell us whether he looked relaxed or not.
