Brooks Sports wants to have it both ways

Which athletes on the 4x8 weren't running for brooks?

Let me get this straight. When they run all Brooks athletes they want to be called BROOKS BEASTS but when they throw a ringer on the team they want to be called BEASTS?

How do they register as a USATF Club?

Next year if the BROOKS BEASTS win Club Cross will it be considered a repeat?

While I like the idea of Brooks I do not like the execution.

the way I see it is they are always Brooks Beasts. Its the Nike and Asics athletes that aren't allowed to say they run for Brooks Beasts. Which isn't Brooks problem. They are paying the tab for the coaching and etc so the have the right to be called Brooks Beasts. If Nike or Adidas have a problem with their athletes being trained by a Brooks coach then they should stop it.

Do you have a link, or some kind of story that goes with this disagreement?

In my experience, the big brands do not enjoy having athletes sponsored by competitors run under their team banner. Same goes for individuals who are sponsored. Generally, they have agreements with their sponsor to never run in another brand's kit or apparel, which goes double for national championships with media exposure.

It's strange to me that Brooks would let any athlete sponsored by a competitor race on it's team in competition.

Not register in 2014 but in 2013 registered at Beasts TC

USATF should call them by how they are registered.

If I were a higher up at Brooks I would fire whoever entered a team that Brooks is paying for to enter themselves without including the name Brooks.

It was not a mistake either as it was calculated so that they could use athletes that are not sponsored by Brooks.

I will bet that it is "Brooks Beasts" from here on out.

What if you had a bunch of beastly friends and you all lived near assorted streams of water and just wanted to call yourself Brooks Beasts?

Simple solution is to register as a club with USATF under the name you want to be called.

That's actually brilliant. Here's what I'm thinking. Next year Al Sal has Rupp head up north for some training because, I don't know, the cold air offers more resistance or something. Strikes up a friendship with the Brooks Beasts and joins them for club XC. They'll make an exception for Rupp.

Rupp starts the race. Runs 8K. Drops out. Does a workout after. Nike keeps the Brooks Beasts from being on top the results, Rupp is primed for XC nationals, and the Beasts only run with 6 instead of 7.

Mackey registered the club as the Beast TC so that Brie could explain it away to Adidas. Now Brooks is pissed. Watch how the team is registered in the future. A company doesn't spend dollars without recognition.

Just having this controversy is worth something in advertising dollars.

I don't care what they are called, I'm happy we got a great race out of it.
