What is it? And just use athletes that actually ran the 800 in high school, not people that moved up in college.

I know a guy who was a 2:04 800 guy up until his sophomore year of college who went 1:52. Then again he worked incredibly hard, and did everything right. He wouldn't watch tv without stretching or doing drills of some kind.
Lots of kids like me. I ran a 48.17 400 and 2:02 800 in HS. After some real conditioning, I ran 1:50.32.
I think a HS athletes collegiate 800 potential has a lot to do with the 400 HS time and attitude. IMO - Show me a kid that can run a legit sub-50 quarter in HS and he'll run sub 1:51 with the right coaching and attitude.
Younes Benzaid of U Albany, he ran 2:07 in high school and he's a 1:52 guy.
^^^^ met him. Real deal
2:03.1 in HS. Ran 3:52 1500 in college.
obviously i responded to your title and not what you actually wanted. but still, pretty good right? not bad for a 2:03 800 hs pr. college 800 was rarely ran but I ran 1:57 after a 4:13 mile.
