I call BS on it being 100ft.
Neglecting wind resistance (which would make the jump take slightly longer) a 100 ft jump should take 2.49 seconds (t = sqrt[d/(1/2g)]). He seems to be airborne for barely half that time, so the distance would be way less than half of 100 feet. In the first second you only fall 16 feet, and 47 feet in the 2nd second.
Not that we could expect any better from the Daily Mail.
Farah's "100 foot" jump

It's less than 50 feet, more like 40.
-
I watched that video and yeah, it's only 30-40 feet, not a big deal at all, if it was 100 feet we would be talking about his injuries from the fall.
-
Dear heavens. Even if it was a 100 ft jump, all i can think of is how this article is basically saying 'Runners should never have fun.'
-
100 foot jump into water would almost certainly result in some kind of injury on impact. i've jumped from 40 feet and you hit the water pretty damn hard.

I believe there is a quote from Kevin Costner in "The Guardian" that goes something like "you jump from 100 feet, it is like hitting concrete."
And I always take Kevin on his word. -
The jump was also from several months ago, while the article suggests he interrupted his training in Kenya to go do it

I'd give that 25' to 35' at best.
And you can jump 100'. You gotta know what the h3ll you are doing though. -
40???? That was no more than 15 feet.
-
50 feet is about the limit you can get a regular person to jump. I have jumped from about 80 feet and it is scary as heck. My jump was into a quarry with deep water, I would never jump from over 50 feet into the ocean where you have to time the incoming water. If Farah actually jumped from 100 feet, he has some balls.

Track Coach, the video is embedded in the article. It was clearly 15 feet TOPS. I don't know where 100 comes from, and I don't even know how people are eyeballing 30-50 feet. -
Yeah- hard to see from the angle, but this was no higher than 35 feet, and maybe as low as 20 feet. Guessing somewhere around 25 feet or so. If you have any sense of self-preservation, and have not jumped off a cliff before this may not sound high but definitely takes a little convincing yourself you'll be fine. It seems way higher when you are standing up there. It be hard to really hurt yourself, but it can sting. I jumped from 35-40 ft a few months ago, and it took me about 10-15 minutes of walking up to the edge then backing away out of fear. I finally had to just run and screened a little like Farrah.

75 feet. Go ahead and jump.

I've jumped from around 35 feet, and while not usually dangerous, it takes some balls to jump the first time. Kudos to Mo.

I'd guess less than 40 ft.
BTW, lets run should fix the problem of blocking less than and greater than signs in posts. -
Yeah, I quoted the headline when I put up the link, but it also looked like way less than that to me. I'm going to make a note of that on the homepage.
And I'll pass along the request about greater than and less than symbols on the boards. I'm assuming they're blocked as a way to block hackers putting in html code. -
I jumped 110 ft.
