The problem is that white men limit themselves by picking up ridiculous sports like soccer, long distance slogging or curling, instead of focusing to become the best possible themselves. If they focused on getting BUFF early on - I am talking about serious weight lifting from the early teens - like the folks in the Caribbean do - the result would be quite different.

The US has about 9x the population of Ireland claiming Irish descent, around 36 million people. Surely there are some faster white guys as outliers in the larger group that can show some level of white guy sprinting.
the first thing that came to mind when i read this post is that the 60m is an indoor track event. indoor track is not big in europe, not like in the united states. i wonder how many indoor tracks there even are in ireland.
Between Casey Combest at 6.57 for the 60m and LeMaitre at 9.92 for the 100, you have 2 white guys with elite sprint times. So I would say the title is incorrect. Some white guys can sprint. Just like some people of all races can sprint, and some people of all races can't sprint, and most people of all races are stuck in the middle.
Not saying the majority of elite sprinters look pretty similar to each other in terms of skin color of course, just saying there are exceptions.
In London 2012, male AND female white jumpers each won two of the 3 golds plus both pole vaults.
Black men can't jump.

However not all white people are Irish so you can make no claim from this regarding the general sprinting ability of white people

This training is HARD. I do some of it myself, but my impression is that white athletes generally don't want to work that hard. There's no reason why you can jump with blacks and you can't sprint. Long jump correlates 90% with max velocity.
An Italian guy ran 6.51 last indoor season.
Then apparently he was injured by the Rome outdoor meet and only ran 10.3.
There's fast white guys they just don't put into the sport what black guys seem to.
Every year though there's 10+ white guys running 10.00-10.20/20.0-20.4, even 5-10 asian guys doing it now.
Keep in mind that the top 10 average for the U.S in 100/200/400 isn't that different from the top 10 white guys in the world in each event.
The top sprinters at 100 and 200 aren't American (Black) OR White, they're Caribbean and most Caribbean sprinters aren't lifting weights from a young age because most don't have access to weights. Sprint talent seems to be helped by something else from a young age. That suggests sprinting isn't genetic, its ethnograpic (diet, upbringing, culture, location). This isn't new either, Jamaican transplants have done well for decades.
