Robert Murphy from Indiana (same HS as Ashley Erba) was one of the top 800 & 1600 guys in the state last year. I think he ran around 1:54/4:10 -

I want to see a girl's mile or maybe the shot put where all the competitors have tourette syndrome. -
Watch out, LRC. You're going to have those people who insist that putting an adjective before a noun is bad after you. I did last time I started a thread about Brannigan. Nice run from him, anyway.

Lets not make a big deal about Mike being Autistic,he's just like any high school runner who works hard at being good at what he loves. Thanks

Some of these may be an aid to running fast. -
Teen with autism, not autistic teen.

*sigh* That didn't take long. Read up:

Pay attention to the second section, "Adjective placement - In relation to nouns." -

It's age-challenged human with autism, you twit. -
Having coached two kids with autism, I think it might be a disservice to bracket them. It doesn't make you less athletic.
-
It's *teen with autism. Not autistic teen.
Try saying "I worked with autistic teens" in a job interview or any education setting & you'll be laughed out of the room in less than 2 seconds. -

Thank you. Labeling is hurtful.
One time after a local road race that I'd won by more than a minute, I overheard a guy saying to his kid "hey look, Jacob. That's the fast guy who won!" With rage in my eyes, I wheeled around to face the vile creature and screamed "I am a guy who is fast, not a fast guy. DON'T LABEL ME." I then fled with tears in my eyes, pausing briefly to throw my medal into the river Muhammad Ali style (what good is a medal awarded by people who want to label me and put me in a box?). -

Thank you for putting the pronoun before the adjective. In doing so, you acknowledge that "a special kind of stupid" is just one of my qualities rather than the sole quality that defines who I am. You are a good man. -
I can imagine indeed that young Mr. Brannigan does want to be treated like any other athlete, and I appreciate that.
I did forward an article about Mike Brannigan to the head of a non-profit dedicated to overcoming autism, and he did say that Mike Brannigan's accomplishments will serve as a great reminder that regular vigorous exercise can be very helpful to all of us, including those who have special conditions of some type.
My friend knows running, by the way, and did indicate that well, Mike Brannigan has talent that very few young people have. But his talent does serve to encourage others, and I think this is a good thing. And I would hope Kevin Brannigan will accept these kind thoughts with grace. -
We live one day at a time, and hope Mike encourages others with his hard work and love of running. Thank you for your kind words.

Why not just " Mike Brannigan runs 4:17.04 mile (US#4), qualifies for 2014 Millrose mile"? Seriously.
