I put "run" in quotation marks because I'm logging everything at 10 minute pace right now, although today I think I was probably clicking off at least 9:30s. The road back is still long but I'm getting there.

Runs like this are the most satisfying. I did an eight miler once, after a few months off, and damn near collapsed in the heat. It was probably my slowest run in years but i have never felt better about a workout.
This fall I finally started adding time to my runs after a prolonged period of shorter or modest running. My first one that hit 72min was the 'shift' I might have been looking for. It led to a number in the 72+ range, and then just before real snow set in I hit 99 minutes (a bit slower on trails) and was able to add a couple more even a little longer -- the last in the early stages of a snowfall that sort of shut down the trails for a couple of months.
That 72 and then 99 minutes jaunts changed the tone and notion of what I can do without the back (and legs) creating problems.
Last month I logged my first week over 70 in ten years, including my first twenty-mile day in a decade as well. After 42 years the body keeps coming back...small miracle!

Totally agree. Even at the slowest paces, these runs are great.
Well done everyone! I made it over 40 mpw for the first time since college and my longest runs since early 2012. Been difficult with the weather here in MN, but strung together 40 days straight from the middle of November to January.
Consistency is key, and thankfully the body remembers what it used to be able to do!

I can sympathize with the excitement to improvements on the road back. I haven't been able to train regularly and get past 45 minutes without having a calf blow out. Just had a chiropractor remove one of the thickest bands of scar tissue he said he's ever felt. Took 8 sessions of pretty painful ART and Graston technique work, but the scar tissue is gone. Started run walking last week. Trying to walk a fine line between being excited and not getting my hopes up! I can imagine the me of my early twenties scoffing at the run walking early 30s me, but if it takes baby steps to get back to training hard again, I will take as many as I need!

I did my first run over 8 miles in over two years yesterday. Did 11 miles in frigid cold and fresh snow, ridiculously slowly, and it was beautiful. I feel, bro.
Great job. Sometimes those runs that get you back to feeling good about your running, no matter what the pace, can be very satisfying.
I ran for 1:40 on my treadmill this weekend due to the brutal cold. Enjoyed it. Watched "Walker, Texas Ranger" on dvd.

Great TV show. Enjoyed watching those with my buddy in the apartment junior year of college.
Today I did 60 more minutes. Originally had a 45 minute run planned, but did tomorrow's 60 minute run to go shorter in the 13 degree weather tomorrow. Felt really good--better than yesterday. I also rolled out for the first time in years last night, which was brutal but well worth it. Legs felt great today.
