Former Air Force Academy Discus Champ David Lyon (Lissy) killed in Afghanistan, husband of 2-time NCAA champ Dana Lyons (Pounds)

i'll bump for sad news.

Very sad indeed. We changed the titel of the thread to give a little more info. His wife Dana Lyon (Dana Pounds at Air Force) was a two-time NCAA champ in the javelin who also competed at the 2007 world champs in Osaka. She was 2nd at the Olympic Trials in 2008 but didn't compete in the Games.

Shouldn't it be (Lissy ) in the title . And why two names ?

Yes. He changed his name a few years back, not sure why.

Sad to see another brother in arms and fellow Airman pass. A very classy guy.

Sorry, that was a typo. I'm not sure why he changed his last name from Lyon to Lissy.

His Air FOrce bio listed his parents names as "Bob and Jeannie Lyon."

Damn. Nobody joins the AF, NV,or CG expecting to die like that. Yuck.

And now the USAFA has fired her two years short of retirement because she didn't get the Covid vaccine.
